Heya!

This is great! If you did all of this on keyboard... how in gods name did you get the guitar to sound realistic?? What program are you using?? I myself use reason 4... but the best guitar i can get out of it sounds like a toy bought for 50 cents on a market... (dunno if thats even posible... but it sucks anyways) I'd really like to know how you did that! Are they loops?
But to get back to the song: too bad you sorta fucked up the ending.... As for the rest, just awesome! Nothing more, nothing less!!

UndergroundSound responds:

Well, I use many different programs. I used to use FL, but its guitar sounds....SUCK.
I use Acid Pro's VSTi's thru MIDI. I also use Audacity and Soundforge 9. I compile each part individually thru the midi and then transpose it into an .shm file. Somehow after a few hours, I get this...Its kinda complex, and I probably go thru way to much trouble, and I'm sure there is an easier way. Then again, I like the trouble, it lets me know just how much work I put into my music!

Thanks for the comment, I know the end sucksg...meant to loop.

Peace!

Tony

mwoah...

Of course it sounded all really nice and all... but originality is nearly gone... I do like the piano "solo" near the ending. I also think the piano sound is too mechanical. And why the weird sort of wannabe splashes in between? They are totally not needed there... For a chord scheme that has been used for like a zilion times, you did do it nice! Thats it for now ;-) Greets, Chris

Catstuffer responds:

Thanks, I think the splashes wont really be noticed too much in the machinema because ppl will be focused on what they are watching, and it just helps break the monotony.

Thank you for reviewing

Pretty good

Nice, but I really missed a climax somewhere in the song. It's almost the same through out the entire song. It has a real good feel to it, really tense. And the ending is pretty sloppy. All the sounds are really nice though. Its a good piece, but it really misses something.

SimPelyRocks responds:

The climax had to be the next song.. :P Maybe it's better to let a single violin or picollo play one more musical happy line before the battle? :)
the ending sloppy... mm I'm going to think about that one. Because I wanted to make a strong emotional feeling by ending with a high violin note. Maybe it's the background violin lines that are to strong at the end?

Thx for the review

This is really good

This is just awesome. The thing is... I miss some bass... its there in the beginning, but it leaves arround 0:34. Maybe put a bass line in or some heavy drums. The quality is really high. The guitar is awesome! You could easely make it a bit longer and make it into a shredding guitar solo. I think that would be awesome.. The guitar is just a little bit to short for my taste... all of the suddon its there... but as fast as it came its gone again.
Well thats it for my opinion.
I'm wondering though, what program do you use to make it?

JeffHeim responds:

Hi Chris,

I use the EWQL Symphonic Orchestra for the strings/brass, and some of the percussion. I use Storm Drum for the big hits and driving percussion, and lastly, Collossus takes care of the guitar sounds. Most of the sounds in Collossus really aren't that good, but with some reverb and mixing, some of the guitar sounds can sound quite professional.
Thank you for the feedback! When making revisions I'll take into account some of the things you've mentioned. A shred solo would be nice :)

Yeah!

It sounds just awesome! The Sounds quality is so high! Only the violin could use a better eq... little less high maybe. For a 3 hour song its really cool! Really tense! (too bad for the ending... but I guess thats because it isn't finished)
Great job!

Bas3008 responds:

Yeah I'll change the violin soon ... the ending, um ...I think an ending doesn't even exist :D
Work is still in progress, I'm working at it rightnow ;)
So thanks anyway for the review :)

hmmm...

Cool intro... Atleast it sounds like a big intro... It sounds muted. I really miss a melodie or a lead instrument (instead of the drums) It all sounds like it are supporting melodies for a melodie yet to come... Hope you can still put something in ;) It sounds good though... but just empty and a little boring.
Greets, Chris

padlock916 responds:

thanks for the coment man. i actually try to let the Bass lead this song. it's boring? :( that's too bad man i'm sorry to hear that.

nice

nice song! nothing more, nothing less... the intro is really nice, but i kinda hoped it built op to something else... dunno other vibe maybe? dont really like the piano part... the sounds are all very nice and a nice EQ. the hihat though, sounds like a shaker... not that good, like you're shaking your hihat all the time :P
nice though,
Greets

FairSquare responds:

Hmm, you have a good point about the hihat. I'll try to change that ^^
And really thanks for this review and your honesty :-)

wow

real nice! awesome piano part! The chords are a bit standard, but the thing is with standard chords, it always sounds good ^^ Too bad the sound just is not that high quality... It would be better if you got digital with a good sample ^^ But the way you recorded it, gives it another dimension. Bit of mono sound to it ^^
You might want to give my newest a quick listen?
I must say, great job on recording this in 1 go ^^ I know how hard that can be. You can hear it every now and then with the a little hickup or a slight speed change. Maybe it helps with playing with a clicktrack ^^ just put your mp3 player on with a desired BPM ^^
Awesome anyways!
Greets, Chris

Dudidum responds:

Hmm when I think about it.... the slight changes in speed are surely my playing (dis)ability XD.
I use alot of standard cords because they suit best when it comes to real improvising.

In terms of quality I can't satisfy everyone but I can say there's a huge difference between this one and the old version....... ^^
The recording device catches the sound at a large angel (stereo) which creates this "roomy" sound and I like that very much ;).

I recorded it with 48kHz 24-bit uncompressed stereo and compressed it to mp3 160kbps 44.1khz.

Thx for your review and glad you enjoyed it ;)!

Dud

ps.: more to come ;)

nice

A bit too chaotic... but other then that really good, nice sound! Sound quality isnt that high... Too bad. Nice song though!
Cheers

ElBonzi responds:

Thanks! We did it all live in some guys garage for $60 and some vodka so I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out!

pretty good

Pretty nice song. It just sounds way to robotic for a classical song... The strings sound more like in a trance song... I suggest you get more realistic strings. The tune and melodie is very nice, but the piano is played way to synthetic, i guess you use FL?? Just get a midi keyboard and play it yourself ^^ Gets a much better feeling to the song. Fix that and you have a winner!
Greets Chris

ninjex15009 responds:

Thanks for the review. Yeah I used FL, friend showed it to me so its all i know. Anyway worked with what I had, and yeah you're right about the strings and piano. If I ever find the time I'll be sure to fix it up and resubmit it.
